Lapis Lazuli Lariat

Natural Lapis Lazuli is set in fine silver and hangs from a lariat drop. The sterling silver cable chain features a hinged sterling silver hook that latches in the front.

The chain measures 16" around with a 2" drop.

A Brief History: Lapis lazuli has been treasured since ancient Egypt for its deep, celestial blue. It was used in sacred amulets and for royal adornment symbolizing truth, protection, and the favor of the gods. It is reported that Cleopatra wore powdered lapis as eyeshadow. Now, fast forward about 1500 years and crushed lapis was the original source of the ultramarine pigment used in Renaissance paintings. It was more valuable than gold and used by figures such as Michelangelo and Vermeer.
